German American Club of Santa Cruz
German Children’s Books and Pretzels!
Saturday, October 17th 10-12
At the parking lot of the
German American Hall
Club members, we know you are missing Oktoberfest! We are too! To commemorate the founding of the original Oktoberfest on the 17th of Oktober 1810 we’ll be celebrating the opening of the Kleine Kinderbibliothek (Small Children’s Library) in the club parking lot from 10am to noon on Saturday the 17th. We’ve collected over 400 children’s books and media for checkout and will also have a German book swap for adults. Thank you Dennis Reader for preparing those books! Volunteers are welcome! Who wants to help with set up, cataloging books (something you can do from home) in a data base or baking pretzels? Do you have books or other media- German games, DVDs, etc to donate?
Please share this news with German speaking families.
The German American Club of Santa Cruz is a non-profit organization whose main goal it is to preserve German and European traditions.
Founded in 1888, the Club is part of Santa Cruz history. We are happy to welcome everybody who is interested in German culture or even has German heritage. Once a month we gather for a dinner with mostly traditional German food. Besides that we offer German language classes, a Christmas market and many more things.
